Usually I totally ignore the special recommendations that clutter the Amazon home page. It’s kind of like the irritating sales people that come up to you in the store with a faux smile saying “May I help you?” when their body language telegraphs a “What can I push on you today?” message.
But, this evening Amazon finally came up with something I was really interested in – a book on recumbent bicycles. I’ve always been totally fascinated by recumbents, but have never been able to ride one – primarily because of my inability to find one to try out that would fit me. And, naturally enough, I’m really hesitant to order a custom recumbent without being able to ride one first.
But this book, which starts out "Until the end of the 18th Century, people only had their feet, the horse and cart, and the ship as the means for travel and..." has really intriqued me and rekindled my interest in exploring an untested corner of the HPV world.
The web page says it usually ships within 3 to 5 weeks, then I’ll have to add at least another couple of weeks to that for it to make the journey from the States to Japan. Hopefully sometime before Christmas I’ll have it in my hot little hands and will let you know what I think of the book, and the idea of me trying a recumbent.
