I celebrated my 60th birthday about a week ago. This afternoon it's pouring rain outside and I'm trapped inside because the next typhoon is on the way. I had great plans to go out kickbiking this weekend. It turns out that the Chiba Zoo is a little over 9 kilometers from our house. There's a few hills on the way, but not too bad. So, the plan was to either kick or mountain bike to the zoo, spend a good portion of the day taking photos of the animals, then make my way back home before sunset.
Childish? Perhaps. Yet I can't think of a better way to enjoy a weekend, take an interesting photo series for my weblogs, and keep in shape doing it.
Well, there will be other weekends, with more cooperative weather. I'll make it over to the zoo next weekend, and the weekend after that, and keep on doing it, or something similar, as long as I possibly can - even if it means pushing my wheelchair up the hills...
