Here's some additional information from the 'Vail Trail' on Harald's program. It's pretty clear that I won't be able to put in all the hours of daily exercise he has, but that won't keep me from modifying his program to fit the demands of my own schedule.
Harald's comments:Basically I get up each morning, 7 days a week at
4:30am and run with my dogs and cat (yes, my cat really runs!) for 60-90
minutes then I will do an additional 30-90 minutes on my elliptical
trainer, depending on the amount of calories I consumed the day before.
If I ended up going over or stayed even then I'm willing to pay the
price of a longer workout to put myself back to a slight deficit for
each 24 hour period. Besides that I do a lot of stretching and some
cycling. I'll re-introduce some resistance training into my routine
once I've gotten rid of the first 40-50 pounds.
