It's raining this morning, so I'm catching up on news and happenings via the internet. I happened to check one of the Kickbike articles, noticed that 'Harald Fricker' is the prime mover behind KickBikeUSA - the US distributor of Kickbikes, and decided to do a Google search.
You never know what you might find, and this was definitely a case in point! One of the first links was to an article that just appeared in the Vail Trail newspaper featuring Harald. The timing couldn't have been better. Harald writes about his weight loss and fitness challenge, and is committed to documenting his efforts right out there in public on the internet. The article even includes a couple of "then" and "now" photos - soon to be followed photos documenting his progress-
The image on the left is Harald now. Personally, I haven't decided whether or not to actually post my own "before" photos, but my wife would tell you that I look almost exactly the same. Needless to say, I'm going to be following along as Harald takes off the pounds and gets in shape. I'll be checking on his progress. More importantly, I find Harald's efforts inspirational, and want to take this on as a personal challenge. While I doubt that I can keep up with him - i.e. match his weight loss pound for pound - I'm certainly going to give it a try.
I'm particularly interested in his exercise program, and what role cycling and kickbiking will play. I don't expect that a Kickbike, or any piece of equipment, is the magical answer to weight loss and keeping fit. Still, they should help. My own, purely personal, take on the Kickbike is that it makes exercising a lot of fun. Exercise boredom has always been a major drawback to me, and the Kickbike is a great solution to that problem. Let's see if that along with the 'Harald Challenge' inspires me to shed some pounds.
"Once a long-distance runner and top-level athlete, Harald Fricker is determined to drop 100 pounds and regain his old form."
